Server recycling in Katy and Greater Houston

Decommissioning servers or clearing a server room? City eWaste Katy collects servers, racks, storage devices and supporting IT equipment. Include access and loading requirements in your request.

Preparing retired equipment for a server room decommissioning

We accept servers, racks, towers, blades, storage devices and supporting equipment such as power supplies, switches, routers and cords. HP, Dell and other brands are welcome.

  • Rack servers, tower servers and blades
  • Racks and enclosures
  • Storage devices and loose hard drives
  • Power supplies, switches, routers and cords

Battery packs carry a small service fee, so list any you are sending in the notes.

Before pickup

  • Back up data you need and remove management or activation locks where possible. Tell us about access restrictions or devices you cannot reset.
  • If a server is no longer operational, send it anyway. Data is still destroyed during processing.
  • Hard drive removal is available for a small fee. If you pull drives yourself, include them in the pickup and tell us the number of drives in your pickup request.
  • Label each rack or pallet with what it holds so the count is clear at loading.
  • Note the floor, elevator access and loading dock in your pickup request. Racks are heavy and access details help us plan the truck and the crew.
  • If your data center has its own access rules, such as escorts or set dock hours, put them in the notes so the visit is planned around them.

Quantities and the pickup fee

Each server counts toward the 12, and so do computers in the same pickup. Pickup fee typically waived at 12 or more computers or servers. Some per-item fees apply. For smaller collections, ask about combining pickups in the area. A pickup fee may apply. Fees and waiver eligibility are confirmed before scheduling.

Devices are inventoried, securely transported and tracked through our system. Serial tracking, asset reporting and compliance support are part of the business pickup.

Data destruction

Storage media is wiped or physically destroyed using industry-standard methods through certified R2 downstream partners. Request a Certificate of Destruction when requesting pickup for your compliance and audit records, including documentation related to HIPAA or SOC 2 requirements.

Schedule your server pickup

Tell us what you have and where it is. We confirm the pickup window and any fees before scheduling.
