Network equipment recycling in Katy and Greater Houston
Recycle switches, routers, telecom gear and other network equipment with City eWaste Katy. Request a dedicated collection or include it with a computer or server pickup.
What we accept
Network gear is on our accepted list for business pickup. TP Link, Cisco and Dell switches are common. Telecom equipment from Cisco, Huawei, Nokia and ZTE is accepted too.
- Networking gear and switches
- Routers and cable boxes
- POS systems
- Telecom equipment
- Patch cords and power cords
Cable boxes, routers and POS systems are generally free to recycle. A pickup fee may still apply; we confirm all costs before scheduling.
Before pickup
- Export any configuration you want to keep before the equipment leaves.
- Factory reset switches and routers where you can, which clears saved settings and passwords. If a unit will not boot, send it anyway and mention it in the notes.
- Coil and tie cords, or bag them by type.
- Box small units together and label each box with what it holds and how many.
- Gather everything by your back door or loading dock.
Quantities and the pickup fee
Network equipment does not count toward the 12-computer-or-server pickup threshold. Pickup fee typically waived at 12 or more computers or servers. Some per-item fees apply. On its own, a network-only pickup is below the threshold, so a pickup fee may apply. You can add computers or servers to the same pickup to reach 12. For smaller collections, ask about combining pickups in the area. A pickup fee may apply. Fees and waiver eligibility are confirmed before scheduling.
Pairing network gear with a larger pickup
Network closets are often cleared at the same time as a server room or an office move. Listing everything in one request lets us plan one truck and one visit, and the computers and servers in that request count toward the 12. Routers and switches that sat in front of servers may hold saved settings, so reset them before the pickup where you can.
Data destruction
Storage media is wiped or physically destroyed using industry-standard methods through certified R2 downstream partners. Request a Certificate of Destruction when requesting pickup for your compliance and audit records, including documentation related to HIPAA or SOC 2 requirements.
